How to Improve English Vocabulary
Some time ago I decided
it was time for me to start sounding intelligent, so I decided to increase my vocabulary! I guess you’re there for the same reason. But you’ll quickly discover that if you just plop into a chair and try to start plowing through the first Webster, you get your hands on that things are really boring very quickly.
I will not bore you with talk about how you can not remember the words well, let’s get right to how you can start increasing your vocabulary.
Ok, this one is pretty obvious – Learn more! If you really want to increase your vocabulary, reading is an essential step! Want to get the most out of your books? Begin to keep a little diary of words that you really like when playing. This way, you can easily find the words you find later. Of course, you’ll have to read books rather advanced.
Another thing you can subscribe to the newsletter to start receiving their word of the day. These newsletters are really fun and really easy, and they are a great way to discover the words that you’ve never seen before. And I mean, a dictionary site, they will look good words for you …
The last thing you can do, and it’s really a very important thing is to use these words or academic vocabulary in use into your speech. This is the only way I found to guarantee that I’ll keep those precious words that I learned. As I’m sure you understand, a truly easy to learn more words is just to make an effort to use your word day, at least several times a day. Obviously, this way you will be almost guaranteed to learn at least 365 words per year.
That sounds like maybe not much, but it really is.
Try practicing some of these tips and you’ll see how it is nice to have a large vocabulary.
